Step 1: Activate the add-on
Click on Plugins (on the left menu), and click “Activate” below MarketPress add-on.
Once activated, “Activate” will be replaced by “Settings” and “Deactivate”
Step 2: Go to Store settings
Let’s set up the store – Click on Settings.
Once the plugin is activated a new menu called Products will appears. Figure 1
You can always go into your Store Settings from here as well.
Step 3: Configure store settings
Click on the Store Settings link in the products navigation menu.
The initial General settings page that comes up covers settings that are self explanatory such as the location of your store, sales tax if you want it calculated, currency type, and inventory warning settings. Fill in the data as desired and then click Save Settings.
Step 4: Presentation settings
The presentation settings creates the layout of your store pages as well setting up the directory tree structure for your site. Figure 2
Reviewing all the menus down to the bottom the Store URL Slugs. These are going to be the URL for your store contents. Figure 3
Once changes to this page have been made or not click on the Save Changes button. Without saving this page you will not be able to navigate to your store. If you want your store page to be your homepage then after you save the changes expand dashboard “Settings” menu and click on “Reading” from there change the default homepage setting to the store page. Figure 4
Step 5: Message settings
The next settings page of note is the Messages settings page. Figure 5
Under Messages you can set the basic copy for the following messages:
- Order confirmations
- Order has been shipped
- Global shopping cart pages
- Global store pages
Once this page is review click Save Changes.
Step 6: Shipping options
To configure which countries to ship to, select the countries from the drop down menus. Figure 6
Then specify the shipping charges for each of the regions. For electronically delivery product there is no need to add shipping charges. Save the changes on this page once it is complete by click Save Changes
Step 6: Payment settings
Click the Payments in the first box the checkbox that says Paypal Express checkout. Figure 7
This will enable the PayPal express payments and a new set of menus will appear below. Figure 8
A PayPal API credentials and signature are required to Express checkout payment. For more information and to get a free payments account from PayPal visit PayPal X Integration Center. Once all the data has been filled in select the PayPal mode that says Live. Note: for testing purposes you can use the Sanbox version. You will also need to create a separate Sandbox set of credentials from PayPal. This will allow test orders without actually running live charges through the account. After all the payment settings are finished click Save Changes at the bottom.
That is it for our store configuration. For my test site I did not really change many settings on these pages. It is however required to go through them and click Save Changes for all the pages in order to get your store setup properly.
Now it’s time to add your first product.
